Jonval Leathers and Furs New Year, New Closet

The new year is here and with it, hope. It is hard to believe we are already halfway through the first month of the new year. With every new year, I feel a sense of renewal and new beginnings. With that, Jonval Leathers and Furs is here to help you with one of my recurring resolutions each new year—updating and organizing my closet.

Why Update Your Closet

New Year, New You

The start of the new year is the perfect time to take stock of what you already have. In this way, you can then make room for everything new that you want. Jonval Leathers and Furs has a great trick to help you keep careful track of the clothing that you wear that hangs in your closet.

We suggest first making sure that all of the hangers that hang in your closet fact the same way- either toward you or away from you. Then, as you wear your clothing through the start of the new year, be sure to hang it back up with the hanger facing the opposite way.

In this way, you have a great visual of the clothing you wear, and more importantly, the clothing you do not wear. After a couple of months of doing this, you will have a very good idea of what you wear often and what you do not wear at all.

And, you guessed it, all those hangers that remain facing the way they started, are ready to go. They need to get out of your closet to make room for all the new clothing and items you want to put in it. There is no sense keeping clothing in your closet if you are not wearing it. It is just taking up valuable real estate, real estate that could be used for your new updated wardrobe.

Throw Out, Donate, or Give Away

Now that you have determined the clothing that you wear often and the clothing that you no longer wear, it is time to decide what to do with that clothing you no longer wear. The first thing you will want to do is determine why it is you no longer wear it.

Does it no longer fit you? Is it too small or too big? Are you waiting until you fit back into it? How about a new New Year’s resolution—be comfortable with who you are right now in this moment and stop living for ‘one day.’ As in, ‘one day’ I will be able to wear this again because one day I will have lost the weight, or gained the weight, or grown three inches.

We have not even begun to scratch the surface of your New Year closet clean out and update. There are so many tips and tricks that Jonval Leathers and Furs cannot wait to share with you. Coming up, the next few criteria to consider when deciding what to do with the clothing in your closet that you no longer wear.
