Fall is here! Time to bring out your Denver fur coat
Fall is just weeks away - even though it feels as if it’s already here! With fall just around the corner, it’s time to bring out your Denver fur coat! Whether you have stored your coat for months (maybe even years) or it is still actively used and hanging in your closet, there are a few things you can do to prep your favorite investment for fall.

Storage Removal
Whew, time to knock off the cobwebs! Hopefully you don’t actually have cobwebs surrounding your fur coat, otherwise you will need a thorough cleaning. While that isn’t a bad thing, make sure that you are fully prepared for anything that it might entail. Once removing your fur coat from storage, we recommend that you hang the jacket in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Give your fur some time to reset before wearing it out, cleaning it, or getting it altered/repaired.

Light Cleaning
After a storage period, a light cleaning is always beneficial for your Denver fur coat. It is completely up to you just how light, or thorough, you’d like your cleaning to be. But we at least recommend a good dusting and visiting your local Denver fur coat store for additional assistance. A cleaning can make the difference between a comfortable and good looking jacket, and a jacket that looks worn.

Check for Fit/Repairs
After cleaning, always give your jacket a good once over for repairs or alterations. If you have any rips, tears, or small imperfections that need to be fixed, be sure to do so before wearing your fur coat out in the elements. In addition, try on your fur coat. Your body might fluctuate from year to year, and it’s important to make sure your fur coat fits as you’d like it to. If you think you need some alterations, bring it in! We are happy to assist you in whatever you need.

Enjoy!
Once your jacket is ready, be sure to wear it as much as you’d like! Fall is the perfect time to get used to your fur coat, as it will typically be a little cooler at night. Take time to try out different looks with your fur jacket, and always remember to take good care!

Why fall is the perfect season for your Denver leather jacket

Why fall is the perfect season for your Denver leather jacket
The weather is starting to change, which inevitably means you will need to make a few wardrobe adjustments! There is no need to worry though, your Denver leather jacket is the perfect piece for all seasons. While we do recommend a light cleaning, here are our four reasons why fall is the perfect season for your leather jacket.

Layers, layers…and more layers!
Leather jackets are the perfect layering jacket. Light weight, and oftentimes not form fitting, your leather jacket will be the perfect coat to layer over a blouse, sweater, t-shirt, or even dress for a more casual look. Fall is the perfect time for layers - be sure to incorporate your leather jacket!

Versatility
If you don’t know much about leather jackets...know this. A leather jacket is perfect for pretty much anything. You can wear a leather jacket with jeans, leggings, stripes, color blocks, the list really goes on. Your leather jacket will be a perfect capsule statement in your wardrobe - why not wear it in the fall?!

Agreeable Weather
While the temperatures are getting a little cooler, there often times isn’t much rain or snow in the fall...making protecting your leather jacket from the elements a breeze. While you might not experience many issues with the elements, be sure to always treat your leather jacket as necessary and take good care of it!

Comfortability
Assuming you’ve had your leather jacket for a bit, it’s likely already begun to wear in. The best part of a leather jacket is it truly gets more comfortable with each wear. During the fall season you most likely want a jacket that fits comfortably, and doesn’t cause any additional warmth - after all the best thing about fall is the cooling temperatures!

While fall might be the perfect season for a Denver leather jacket, remember you can wear your leather jacket year-round. Just be sure to follow a few basic care tips when doing so:
Always hang your jacket when not in use - never fold! Folding can cause creases that will ultimately damage your leather.
Use a leather conditioner sparingly, too much can harm your jacket and if it’s not the right conditioner...watch out! If you need help picking out products that will work for your leather jacket, come in to see us.
Never let standing water sit on your jacket. Quickly wipe any liquid off your jacket with a clean cloth, and if it stains consult your local leather jacket store before self-treating.

Whether you are looking to expand your leather collection, or simply get a cleaning/alteration, always reach out to a professional! Three things to look for when purchasing a Denver fur coat

Three things to look for when purchasing a Denver fur coat
It’s hard to believe, but summer is already more than half over. As we get ready to roll in the fall and winter months, you might be preparing to change out your wardrobe for something more suited for the colder temperatures. You might have your eye on a fur coat, and while it can be intimidating it is certainly worth the investment. Here are a few things you should consider while purchasing a Denver fur coat.

Type
There are many types of fur jackets, and trust us when we say it can get confusing. Lucky for you, we have compiled a quick guide to a few of the most popular ones:
Mink: Plush and elegant, mink fur gives the wearer a very refined and polished look. However, it is increasingly being used in more modern styles.
Chinchilla: Very few furs are softer than chinchilla, and because of its quality and rarity it does tend to be higher priced. Chinchilla fur will be heavier, so purchase with caution!
Rabbit: Warm, soft, reasonably priced, and popular, rabbit fur might be best if you are looking for your first coat or a versatile option.

Style
When purchasing your fur coat, keep an eye out on style and keep in mind what you are hoping to use it for. If you want a lighter jacket to wear in the fall, perhaps avoid chinchilla fur. If you are wanting something a little lighter that gives you plenty of options, we recommend rabbit fur.

In terms of the overall style of the coat, you can purchase dyed furst that provide a unique pop of color to your wardrobe as well as give your wardrobe a modern look. Looking for something more formal? Purchase neutral colors. Finally, make sure you try on all coats prior to purchasing, as coat and sleeve length will impact the overall look as well as style.

Quality
Before purchasing a jacket, make sure you take time to examine the quality of the fur jacket. The feel of the coat will tell you a lot about the quality level - real fur will feel soft versus grainy and sticky. Keep in mind, the inside of the coat is just as important as the outside. The feeling of the lining well be important as you wear it throughout the winter months, particularly if you plan to wear it with a cocktail dress or sleeveless outfit.

No matter what your issue, always consider reaching out for help from a tailor when it comes to alterations and common wardrobe malfunctions. Remember, if you are in the market for a leather or fur jacket we at Jonval are here to help. We have a variety of leather jackets to match any style. Ways your Denver tailor can help

Ways your Denver tailor can help
Tailor (n): A person whose occupation is making fitted clothes such as suits, pants, and jackets to fit individual customers.

Hiring a tailor can be an intimidating thing, and you might not know where to start. Another common misconception is that a tailor is someone you would use for one fitting/alteration...but not necessarily for multiple reasons. But did you know you can use a tailor for multiple things? In fact, they can help you solve quite a few wardrobe problems you might be encountering.

Loose waist
Is something not fitting right...particularly around your waist? Too often you can buy a piece of clothing where something doesn’t quite lay right, it’s too big, or its too small. But the rest of your piece might fit perfectly. There is where a tailor comes in - a tailor can help narrow the waist to give you a more slender/v-shaped look. No matter what adjustments you have, tailors can create the perfect piece of clothing - just for you!

Arm length
Did you purchase a jacket that fits you well around the shoulders, has great overall length, but the arms are a little too long? Tailors can help shorten arm length to exactly what they should be, ensuring your jacket fits well all around your body. It might be tempting to attempt a DIY solution when it comes to arm length, but remember your clothing is an investment. Don’t cut corners, as you could ruin your investment. It simply isn’t worth it!

Sleeves
Speaking of shortening sleeves, tailors can also help narrow them. If your sleeves are too large around your upper arms or lower arms, the tailor can help narrow them to fit your more appropriately. Similarly, a tailor can help to narrow the shoulders and make them more flattering for your body shape.

Necklines
Is your neckline unflattering? Perhaps the wrong shape for your body? A tailor can help to adjust for any unflattering necklines or additional issues that you might be noticing. If you know you don’t like the way the neckline is laying, but aren’t sure what you want to do about it, your tailor is here to help.

The Fixings
If you’d like your zipper fixed, swapped out, or some other bling on your jacket/pants adjusted a tailor is here to help. Just remember they aren’t there to completely alter the look of your jacket or other clothing item. Just to make small adjustments. So if you’d like a more blinged out jacket - we’d recommend purchasing as such.

No matter what your issue, always consider reaching out for help from a tailor when it comes to alterations and common wardrobe malfunctions. Remember, if you are in the market for a leather or fur jacket we at Jonval are here to help. We have a variety of leather jackets to match any style. Tips for a great leather jacket alteration

July 24, 2019

Tips for a great leather jacket alteration
Leather jackets work best when they are properly fitted, which means you might need to get your Denver leather jacket custom fitted and altered. Alteration sounds overwhelming - we know! But here are our insider tips, XX to be exact, to get your best leather jacket alteration.

Start with a good base
Starting with a good base is important when getting any alterations - specifically when getting your leather jacket altered. If you get an oversized jacket, it’s going to be hard to get your jacket altered properly. Inversely, if you start with a jacket that’s too small, alterations are going to be more difficult and costly. Make sure that a leather jacket fits as perfectly as it can prior to taking it in to get tailored.

Find the perfect tailor for you
Finding a great tailor is important, but it’s also important to find a tailor that you are comfortable communicating with. It’s important for you to communicate openly with your tailor about what how you want the jacket to fit, and how you want it to look. A great tailor is not only good at their craft, but their willing to have the difficult conversations with you.

Wear comfortable, casual clothing
When you go to your tailor appointment, it’s important to wear clothing that you are not only comfortable wearing, but clothing that you will wear often with your leather jacket. If you would typically wear a t-shirt and jeans, wear that to your alteration. Afterall, your leather jacket is hopefully something you will wear often and bo most comfortable in.

Manage your expectations
It’s important to remember that no matter where you go for your leather jacket alterations, significant changes won’t happen within an hour. You should expect to wait a few days, maybe even 1-3 weeks, for an alteration to be complete. Good things take time, don’t rush or push your tailor to hurry to completion.

Don’t DIY
Leather can be a difficult fabric to work with, and it’s important not to attempt to alter your leather at home. Even if it’s the smallest of issues, do not try to fix your leather at home. A tailor is always worth the cost and time when it comes to altering your leather jacket. Afterall, you don’t want to make a mistake that can permanently damage your investment.
