How to style a Denver fur coat

How to style a Denver fur coat
Denver fur was all the rage this holiday season! Not only was it the perfect holiday gift, but it can help keep you warm and stylish all season long. If you’ve recently purchased a fur coat, or have gotten one as a gift, it can often be overwhelming. If you’ve never owned one before, you might be wondering...how do I style this beautiful coat? What should I wear? We have our go-to guide for how to style your new Denver fur coat.

Neutral Colors
Do you own, or are you looking at purchasing a neutral color jacket? Black fur is going to be far less noticeable, and dressing a black fur jacket with all black clothing will create a far less powerful statement. However, it’ll still look chic and will keep you warm and comfortable for the evening. Brown jackets are another great way to make a far less powerful statement, but we recommend avoiding white fur. White stands out naturally, and a white fur jacket will create a very expensive and chic look.

Keep it Basic
Avoid looking over the top by keeping it basic, and simple. What we mean by that is pairing your fur jacket with a pair of skinny jeans and very neutral colored heels, pumps, or wedges. A neutral colored blouse, ro even neutral colored t-shirts, will make the perfect pairing for this fall/winter outfit combination. Too cold for a t-shirt or blouse? Pair your leather jacket with a neutral sweater and you will be feeling comfortable all day long.

Pull it all together
Fur coats can look more expensive, and chic, when you have a lot of bold statement pieces at once. We recommend having one focal piece in your outfit, and ensuring everything else works together to compliment it. It’s also great if you compliment your fur coat based on the “era.” Have a vintage piece? Try pairing it with some lighter jeans and a string of pearls. This combination will create a chic statement without looking over the top.

Don’t get intimidated
Yes, fur coats can be intimidating. But don’t let it get the best of you! Wear your fur coat with confidence, you can and will rock that jacket. Just remember your overall goal - classy, chic, and simple!

Why the leather jacket makes the perfect winter accessory

January 8, 2020

Why the leather jacket makes the perfect winter accessory
Looking for a new winter accessory? A Denver leather jacket is the PERFECT winter staple. Depending on what the day’s weather is, you might have to wear a heavier coat with it - but that doesn’t make it any less stylish when you get to your destination. We’ve compiled the four reasons that a leather jacket is the perfect winter accessory.

Reason #1: Classic
Leather jackets have a classic style to them. Created in the early 1900s the leather jacket has many styles and variations that can quite literally be worn in any situation or any occasion. Leather jackets, traditionally, have a neutral color and very little “bells and whistles” on the exterior, making them the perfect fixture if you are looking for something more clean cut.

Reason #2: Fashion
Leather jackets, are classic as we mentioned, but they are also fashionable. Leather jackets are made in nearly every color, and have a number of different styles available for purchase. As fashion has started to become more mainstream, the leather jacket has begun to be an affordable way to add some style, flair, and elegance to your wardrobe. Pairing a leather jacket with a pair of jeans or athleisure is the perfect look for a weekday, or night out.

Reason #3: Long-Lasting
As long as you take care of your investment your leather jacket can last years, maybe even decades. The longer you wear your leather jacket, the softer and more flexible it becomes. Which of course, means more comfortability! It’s important to remember that while leather jackets are durable, they do need to be cleaned and handled with care. It’s important to not put too many chemicals on your leather jacket, and never clean it with any chemical that you haven’t previously tested first.

Reaosn #4: It’s Comfortable
We’ve briefly touched on this already, but leather jackets are some of the most comfortable jackets you can own. The longer you wear them, the more comfortable they get. Not only does the fabric begin to lightly wear and get softer, but your leather jacket will actually fit to the shape of your body and it will truly become a jacket made custom for you! Remember, you have many options when it comes to leather jacket material - including cow leather, and even faux leather. All are equally comfortable!

Why wearing more fur is the perfect thing for your New Year’s Resolution

January 2, 2020

Why wearing more fur is the perfect thing for your New Year’s Resolution
Hello 2020! The New Year is here which means it’s time for you to start creating your New Year Resolutions. Most resolutions are about self-improvement and self-empowerment. Something else you should consider? Treating yourself with new clothing, gifts, and additional goodies often. Treating yourself throughout the year is important, and what better way to do it then with a new Denver fur coat?!

A Denver fur coat is the perfect way to make sure you will not only stay warm, but also comfortable, and stylish. A fur coat is the perfect addition to your wardrobe and a great way to make a powerful fashion statement. However, before you purchase your next big purchase, there are a few things that you should be aware of.

The Real vs. Faux Debate
Interested in faux fur? There are a few things you should know about real fur, and ultimately why it’s better than faux. Real fur is softer, and the animal hairs taper off at the end...making the jacket look smooth, put together, and ultimately sleek. If you are unsure of if the coat is real, make sure to check for labels and look inside the coat for lining.

Research
You should take time to research fur coats. Not just the type of fur, but also the local fur shops in your area. Expert tip, fur sold in the United States must have the type of fur and the country of origin printed in the label. Check for that, if it isn’t there you should avoid this type of jacket. Research expands to more than just the ins and outs of the coat you are getting, you should also research the best coat for your environment. If you have heavy snow and brutally cold winter, a heavier coat is going to be best for you. If you typically have mild winters, considering getting a lighter fur coat. Something that you can wear year-round!

Allergies
Are you prone to allergies? Particularly when it comes to fur? If you do experience allergy issues, you should speak with the store you are going to purchase fur at, and consider that carefully when making your decision. Purchasing a fur coat you can’t wear would be quite the disappointment. Make sure you are hyper-aware of your allergies while you start shopping for the perfect fur coat.

Tips for Buying Custom Leather Driving Gloves This Winter

December 26, 2019

Tips for Buying Custom Leather Driving Gloves This Winter
If you do a lot of driving throughout the winter, you may notice how freezing cold your hands can get. Although you may be tempted to spend gas and energy from your vehicle to keep the interior heated warmly before driving, there are other ways you can stay warm, such as wearing custom leather driving gloves.

Figure Out Your Spending Limits
When buying custom-fit leather apparel, it’s essential that you have the budget to afford such items. As leather clothing, in general, can be quite expensive, you don’t want to underfund your custom leather driving gloves unless you want to experience another cold winter of driving this year. To ensure you have the budget for this winter holiday expense, you should look over your debt to income ratio and consider speaking to your bank for budgeting needs.

Find Your Hand Measurements
To figure out the size of custom leather driving gloves you should purchase this winter; you will need to take measurements of your hand. If you’re unsure how to do this, you can always stop by a local Denver leather shop in your area, so that they can adequately measure your hands or recommend what size would best fit you. To figure out hand measurements on your own, take a fabric tape measure in one hand and with the other, measure your fingers and base of your wrist. With these numbers, you can head to a Denver leather shop and pay for your custom leather driving gloves to be made.

Shop Around in Local Leather Shops
To begin shopping around for leather driving gloves, you should stop by a few local Denver leather shops to find the best variety in color, design, and leather type. However, when shopping, you should remember to keep your budget in mind. Also, try out a few different styles to determine which one best suits you. After all, there are so many for you to choose, even for just a pair of leather gloves!

Buy a Few Different Pairs
Once you’ve found your preferred color and style of leather glove, you should consider buying a few different pairs. This way, you can try each out for a few different days to really figure out which one(s) you like the most. Although it can be expensive to purchase a few different pairs of custom leather driving gloves, remember, you’ll be returning the ones you don’t enjoy so that you won’t be spending more than a single pair.

There’s a lot to consider when buying custom leather driving gloves this winter, from figuring out how much you can spend to buying a few different pairs of your own. Although it may seem like a lengthy process to purchase something as simple as gloves, leather apparel can be quite expensive and requires an extensive process to find the right kind for you. So, what are you waiting for? Start shopping for your new pair of leather driving gloves at Jonval Leathers and Furs today at 6880 E. Evans Avenue here in Denver.

How to Buy Custom Leather Apparel as a Holiday Gift

December 18, 2019

How to Buy Custom Leather Apparel as a Holiday Gift
Are you still trying to figure out what to buy your friends or family for the holidays? Although their tastes may differ, something they can all agree on is how good they’ll look in leather apparel this winter. This is why you should consider getting them custom leather clothing as a gift in Denver this holiday season. To get started, here are a few steps you should begin taking before local leather apparel inventories run too low.

Get Proper Measurements
Although you can purchase your friend or family member a small, medium, large, or extra large sizing for leather apparel, it’s best to get them clothing that’s custom-fit. But how do you get this done without them knowing? Although it may seem impossibly hard, it’s easier than you think. You can get an idea of what their measurements are by “borrowing” an article of closing that is well-fit to their figure and taking down the arm, waist, neck, leg, hand size, as well as any other necessary measurements you might need. Plus, you can give them back the borrowed article of clothing in an hour or so following taking their measurements. They might not even notice you took it at all.

Know the Style of the Person You’re Shopping For
After getting the proper measurements, you should figure out the style of the person you’re shopping for. After all, you don’t want to go through all this effort in buying a custom-fit leather jacket or pants just to have them returned. Plus, some leather shops don’t have a return policy in place for custom-made clothing. However, you can figure out the style of the person you’re shopping for by bringing them to a local leather shop and having them browse the racks of leather apparel. Once they find something they like, you can then use that style to buy a great custom-fit jacket, pair of pants, or gloves for them this holiday season.

Keep the Tags and Receipts
Once you’ve bought your friend or family member their new custom leather apparel, you should make sure to keep the tag and receipts. Although you can remove the tag on the clothes themselves, make sure you keep it in a small ziplock bag with the receipt, in case the recipient needs to return the leather apparel due to it not fitting or it not being their style. However, it’s essential that you keep in mind that some leather shops don’t allow returns for custom-made clothing.

Although it may seem impossible to buy custom leather apparel as a holiday gift this late into the season, there are plenty of ways to get proper measurements and understand the style of who you’re giving it to. Hopefully, the tips above could offer you some necessary insight of buying custom leather apparel for your friend or family member secretly. So, what are you waiting for? Stop by Jonval Leathers and Furs in Denver today to start shopping for your holiday gift!
